Her mother a veteran in the interior design world, Jess grew up surrounded by textiles and drag queens, arriving at grade school fashionably late with a full blow-out and freshly rolled sushi. Jess's move into the realm of beauty and fashion at ELLE Canada was no stretch, although editing wasn’t always the plan given her family's construction and property management roots. Notwithstanding hardhats being among her least desirable accessories, balustrades, brick veneers and whistling at passers-by were never in the cards. Not to mention, when it came to subway ads and bar mitzvah invitations, Jess just couldn’t help but read with a critical eye. Eventually, Jess was brought on-board to launch Moses Znaimer's Zoomer Magazine as the associate style editor. Years later, however, after leaving publishing to develop the Institute of Interior Decorating & Style, an affordable online program for aspiring decorators seen on HGTV, Jess returned to her property management roots. She is currently running the marketing and communications department at Greenwin Property Management, specializing in corporate social responsibility and community revitalization in the company’s priority neighborhoods throughout Ontario. In her spare time, Jess pens stories for girly publications like Every Day with Rachael Ray as well as web materials for emerging fashion and beauty companies. Wednesday lunch hours are reserved for tutoring at York Detention Centre for Peacebuilders International, a non-profit organization that works to resolve conflict and prevent violence through peaceful intervention and resolution.
